Research Focus

RESEARCH FOCUS

Environment, behaviour and education through a human-centred lens.

My research interests span interior and environmental design, human behaviour, sustainability, design education, children’s environments, ergonomics, digital technologies and everyday people–place relationships.

PREVIOUS DOCTORAL RESEARCH

Luminant environments, perception and behaviour

My earlier doctoral research examined luminous interior environments and their relationship with patron behaviour and experience, establishing a long-standing interest in how environmental conditions are perceived, interpreted and acted upon.

RESEARCH APPROACH

Observation, evidence and lived experience

Observation is central to my research approach. I am interested in how people read and adapt everyday environments, and how evidence can be translated into practical, inclusive and meaningful design or educational responses.

EMERGING DIRECTIONS

Interdisciplinary questions across space, learning and technology

Current and emerging directions connect interior and everyday environments with education, inclusive practice, digital technologies, contemporary housing and the changing ways people live, learn and participate.
